GOALS / DESCRIPTION
In 2007, the District’s Central Warehouse moved from a 13,000 sq. ft. facility to a 1,200 sq. ft. area within our Central Administration Building. With a vast reduction of items, we still manage to carry some heavy volume standard school supplies, copy paper, and custodial supplies valued in excess of $250,000. It also houses a limited, Central Receiving and delivery area. The Warehouse staff is also responsible for maintaining the Book Depository, a Curriculum Library of textbooks located in a school campus away from the Administration Building. This Department works in conjunction with the Purchasing Department under the direction of the Purchasing Agent.
The goal of the Warehouse personnel is to accommodate all staff by the expeditious handling of all materials necessary to aid in the educational process. They perform both emergency and routine tasks, to whatever function is required.
OPERATION / IMPLEMENTATION
A storekeeper, a full-time driver, and a part-time driver presently staff this department.
The storekeeper is responsible for all receiving, checking for accuracy, shortages, and damages.
The staff is able to request warehouse merchandise through a requisition anytime during the year. Requisitions are approved by Finance and Purchasing. Warehouse staff will pack the order and then deliver accordingly to approximately 13 sites, servicing almost 1,000 staff and 7,100 pupils throughout the Niagara Falls City School District. A yearly Storeroom Catalog is published and is also online through the District’s web page.
