Niagara Falls Board of Education – Policies Under Review

 

INTRODUCTION

One of the charges of the Board as an elected body is set policies and provide direction to the District administration. 
 
“Policies: What are they?"

Policies are laws of the District, which may include regulations;there are specific procedural steps used to implement policies. Policies are needed for the general management, operation, control, maintenance, and discipline of schools by a Board of Education. It is the responsibility of the District, in conjunction with the Board, to determine what policies are needed to govern its district effectively.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

District policies are being revised to bring them up-to-date with current practices and to be in compliance with statutory requirements.

To date, the Board of Education has  reviewed over 107 polices. The affected policies have been revised in accordance with the law and local Board preference and are attached.(click on link below  "NFBOE Policy Manual" to access policies).

The Board has reviewed and endorsed the recommended changes.  In accordance with previous practice, these policies have been tabled for thirty (30) days to allow for sufficient review time by the Board and the public.

There are 8 major sections, each bearing a numeric code (When policies are under review, they will be posted here.):

1000 – Bylaws
2000 – Board Operations
3000 – Community Relations

            4000 – Administration
            5000 –Business/Non-Instructional Operations
            6000 – Personnel
            7000 – Students
            8000 - Instruction
